The KRAlumni Comm periodically organises get-togethers with food/games etc. In the past we've done beer-tasting, wine-tasting, boardgames and etc.On 1 May we're having a mini-gathering at Brendon's place. Thanks Brendon!

There will be boardgames, WII, and GUITAR HERO. and oh yes! a chocolate fountain! :D

Nothing really special, just a gathering of people who used to stay under the same roof. There're probably lots of people you didn't get much time to talk to last time, so now's a great time :)

KLASS Sharing Session 2: Concluded

We have completed our 2nd KLASS sharing. The response was almost a twofold increase from last year, with close to 20 odd residents attending. 9 alumni came back, including our guests speakers – Sunny, Wei-Ern and Brendon.

The session was entertaining, comical and informative to the attendees, especially those who were game enough for entrepreneurship and yearn to be their own boss 1 day. The guest speakers were not shy to share their secrets and tips to where they are today and all concurred with 3 main principles – Discipline, Dare to Dream and Perseverance to the eventual success.

On behalf of KRAC, the residents and fellow alumni, a big thank you to the 3 speakers! You guys were really inspiring.

If you don't already know, 2010 is a very special year for Kent Ridge Hall as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. We would like to invite past and present Kent Ridgeans and family to join Kent Ridge Hall in reminiscing the glorious past and in celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2010.

To kick start the celebrations and to share our blessings with the less fortunate, KR has organised a Charity Run to aid the Children’s Cancer Foundation by trying to raise $60,000 for them.

CCF is a foundation that aims to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. KR sincerely invites all to join us in support this meaningful cause while celebrating a significant milestone in KR's history.

There are 2 categories for this run, competitive and leisure. To participate in the competitive category, form teams of 5 runners with at least 1 female runner. The winning team gets to walk away with a $100 CASH PRIZE!

Do look out for the exciting line-up of performances by KR's very talented culture groups after the event, after which refreshments would be provided.

Young KR Alumnus Chia Wei-Ern was featured in the ST on the 23rd November 2009. Read on to find out more!

1. Tell us more about yourself.

I’m an ex-resident of E-block, had a pretty wild university experience, balancing hall life, work and study. IT and the Internet has always been a passion and it’s a field I’ve always wanted to be in. Currently I’m co-managing Techsailor Group, a start-up that I’ve been with for 2.5 years, where one of the founders was my ex-housemate during our stint in the NOC programme (US).

2. What were your most memorable moments in KRH?

There’s plenty I could cite. Waking up at 6am for E-block IBG training, waking up to find my door decorated during dating game, rehearsing till the wee hours in the morning for hall production/inspire/rockers then going for a meal that's somewhere between supper and breakfast... the list is pretty long.

But what I would probably remember for life was the help I received from my block mates when I returned from the US with a torn ligament. The injury was so bad, I could barely move. I remember Ben (then hall president) going through great lengths to help me get a room to rest over the weekend and even helping me to clean it up. Then there’s Qingyou (ex-E-block head) who promptly offered me the ice packs to relieve my knee, Benny, my neighbor who would help me refill the ice box with fresh ice, and some of my juniors Grace, Lishi and Christina (all ex-culture heads) who would help me get my meals when I couldn’t even leave my room. I can’t imagine how I could survived that semester if I had been posted to PGP upon returning from US as OSA originally intended.

3. What experience have you gained in KR that has helped you in your career or life?

People management. I find that generally, all prominent Kent Ridgeans are very people-oriented and able to handle working with others well. It’s a skill that’s very important in advancing your career. You’ll probably find that managing a team in a corporate setting may not be that different from managing a hall committee. If we were to do a quick study now, I won’t be surprised to discover that that most of the ex-Kent Ridgeans leaders (block heads, JCRC members, sports captains, culture heads) are doing very well in their career right now.

4. How was the KR‐SH relationship during your period of hall stay?

Interesting question. I guess being neighbors, you can’t help comparing and trying to outbest each other, so it’s a healthy competition we’ve always had. But I applaud both E-block and Block E for trying to inculcate inter-hall relationship with our annual mid-autumn festival get-together.

5. Do you have any advice for current residents?

Hall is a great place to discover like-minded people. Take time to get to know your neighbors, block mates and hall mates better. You never know who will end up being your life-long friend, client, business partner or for some fortunate ones, life partners.

6. Lastly, tell us a little more about your company & services available.

Techsailor focuses on online customer engagement solutions. Yo Yo KR Alumni!
That's right! Its time to settle the score again.
Once again, its time for the annual KR Alumni Day, with this year's themed as KRarnival.

For those of you who never knew, KR Alumni Day is a day in December where the KR alumni return to our alma mater.

We head down to the courts where we once sweated, trained and competed our guts out in the journey to bring glory to KR - and challenge the current day residents in our favourite sports - soccer, handball, frisbee, volleyball, netball, takraw, to name a few.

Now that most all working and this includes sitting around on our butts all day, this is a great opportunity to stretch those butt muscles and get back the exhilarating rush of adrenalin on court, running hard, strategizing and working together to get the next goal/point. This is also practice for the current KR teams who will compete in IHG 2010. We have heard over the years playing against the Alumni gives the teams a real boost, as it replicates a real match and they learn very much from the Alumni who have played countless IHGs.

Also, its a great time to get back in touch with the other alumni. Its not easy for one to gather back old friends, and we usually wait for people to call us out. This is that call you have been waiting for. For not only sports will be played, but our very own favourite KR sport- Frisbee will be a highlight, there will be Wii consoles and board games (for those who feel like giving sports a miss) set up in the lobby and there will be a massive dinner together.

Oh by the way, this is the 5th consecutive annual Alumni Day- and the Alumni have been champions the last three years.

So.. if the stats are correct, we have won 100% of the years, and we look to continue this streak this year and we will definitely need YOUR help.

We will be back with more information on which sports there are and how you can sign-up for the day.

Till then, please bookmark your calendar - 12 Dec 2009 - for a day of fun, coming back together as a Hall to KR, good old memories, butt-stretching matches, exhilarating moments on courts and a superb dinner thereafter! We hope to see you there!

'The Devil's Encore', a jazz theatre piece running from the 27th November to the 6th of December at The Arts House at just $20 per ticket via the attached booking form. It presents a bitter-sweet meditation on the duality of life and death, love and loss, against a haunting medley of jazz standards.

The Devil’s Encore is written and directed by award-winning playwright Bryan Tan, and performed by Robin Goh, accompanied by Julian Wong on piano.

The Play Den Productions is a joint venture between The Arts House and Orangedot Management Pte Ltd to produce theatre pieces that are Singapore in origin but with a global appeal. In a small intimate setting without the frills of a large set and cast, we hope to share stories and voices that are truly ours. We are proud to present our 3rd production of our maiden season " The Devil's Encore".

Robin Goh is a singer, actor and radio DJ. Currently he co-hosts the morning drive-time radio show on 883JiaFM, the only bilingual radio program in Singapore. In theatre, he has been seen in plays and musicals such as Chang and Eng, Asian Boys Volumes 2 and 3, as well as his own one-man show, Happy Robin, among many others. He has also sung in various other venues in Singapore, including the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and the Esplanade Concert Hall, with various small groups, as well as the Singapore Chinese Orchestra for their Casual Concert Series.

Actually applied to KR when I went to Law in 83/84. But was REJECTED, so came in as new senior in 84 and stayed for 3 years.

Was in D Block throughout my 3 years of stay in KR. Was Dance Chair in 85/86 and voted Resident of the Block D in 86/87. Built very good relations in the Hall. The saying "once a KentRidgean, always a KentRidgean" is true. I can now pick up a phone to a KentRidgean and would be able to call upon favours from my Seniors as well as my Juniors.

I still keep in touch with my good friends from Kent Ridge days - especially with Sing (Lim Sing Yuen - dance Chair 83/84, now an owner of Jitterbugs Swingapore) and Yuch (Wong YuChien - dance Chair 84/85, now a retired but aspiring chef). We still meet very often (with other KentRidgeans) at Yuch's famous sing-till-the-dawn wine dinner/parties.

What were your most memorable moments in KR?

Time spent between doing StarBurst and preparing for it, and some Hall functions such as Mooncake Festival, charity concerts, AGMs and others.

Organized Assam-Manis, an impromptu Charity concert for a fellow KentRidgean in need. Raised funds for her through selling tickets for a concert.

Memories of late night suppers, scavenging for raw materials to build sets for shows and creating costumes from scraps of materials for numerous Hall functions.

What experience have you gained in KR that has helped you in your career or life?

The ability to work under stress, managing different personalities and the mentality of There is NO Problems, only Solutions.

We've been very very creative about budgets - able to do a lot with very little.

The close proximity of living together enables ties that bind for life.... regardless of faith, beliefs and prejudices.

An example was that in 1992 we formed the KRAS (Kent Ridge Alumni Singers) for the Sing Singapore contest and won Best Group, Best Costume and Best Choreography, sweeping all the awards. All our friends just turned out from the woodworks and came forward, some with money, some with efforts and some just supporting.

How was the KR‐SH relationship during your period of hall stay?

I would say friendly rivalry. Like siblings, we were always competing - them winning us in Rag&Flag (don’t know why we never got it right) and us beating them at Talentime. But we also collaborated on other matters. It was never an "enemy" type of relationship. Even now, when I meet some of the Shearites, we still laugh at the things we did back then. But all is forgotten (and forgiven - I hope), now.

The rivalry has push both sides to greater heights, either in sports or in the arts.

Do you have any advice for current residents?

Not sure what is the state of Hostel living right now. But open your doors, and make friends - I guarantee the friends you make in your hostel days will be friends you will make for life.

Yes, studying is important, but a varsity life is more than getting good grades. It also prepares your for the university of life - the art of living graciously, happily and most of all, contentedly, is gained not by earning money, but living with people.

Dear alumnus,

Many of us are fortunate enough to complete the 3-5 years of fruitful hall life during our university days. However, a little known fact is that some of our peers may experience problems, especially financial ones that may not allow them to have a complete experience in hall.

Since 2006, KRH has established the Kent Ridge Hall Bursary, primarily for deserving talented residents facing financial difficulties, due to economic situations and escalating costs. The objective of this bursary is to ensure that needy residents with outstanding academic achievements and talents are not deprived of the opportunities to excel.

KRAC, fully supports this initiative and would urge all alumni to come forward with your generous support.

Do come forward & indicate your proposed amount, NRIC details and full particulars. If you have any queries, please contact kr.alumni@gmail.com

Our target is S$3,000. The drive will commence 4 Sept 2009 and end on 3 Nov 2009 for a period of 2 months. We sincerely hope you can be part of this noble effort.

Flag & Rag 09/10 is less than 50 days away and our Flaggers and Raggers have been hard at work throughout the holidays raising funds and creating something out of recycled materials. Here is the NUSSU synopsis for the upcoming RAG:

Exploding Colours, Exuberating Zest

Exploding Colours

‘Colours’ symbolise the diversity of the NUS population. Just as the many colours one can think of, there are many students of different backgrounds – be it their ethnicity, nationality or even their upbringing. One can see the rainbow consists of a myriad of colours, much akin to the diversified NUS student population. We may be different in many ways, but we weather the hardship and challenges together as one NUS, to finally produce that rainbow for all to see – the display of the floats, a testimony of accomplishment.

To explode is to burst forth and hence ‘Exploding Colours’ conveys the message of uncontrolled enthusiasm and vibrancy brought forth by the diversity of the NUS community that we will witness at the 51st Rag & Flag!

Exuberating Zest

On the 2 historic dates of Flag (4th Aug 09) and Rag (8th Aug 09), we witness the uninhibited zest within each and every NUS student. The effusive passion and spirit will be evident during Flag when throngs of NUS students do their part in the fund raising effort for all of our beneficiaries. The abounding gusto will be on display during Rag, as each Faculty and Hall takes their turn at impressing the audience by showcasing their carefully constructed floats with pride.

There is a first for everything, so for the fifty-first Rag & Flag come August 2009, witness the exploding colours, exuberating zest!

Are you already wondering what our Raggers are planning for? We sure are! This is an appeal going out to all alumni to help out in Rag Rush when time permits. Of course we don't mean the entire stay-up-through-the-night kind of Rag Rush, but if you are in hall visiting or for some reason or another, do pop by the Rag area and give the Raggers a cheer or help cut some squares for ten minutes or so. Similarly, give the Flaggers and other OP-commers (FWOCers and Tech Support crew) a hearty pat on their backs when you see them around! It's the thought that counts and that's the best form of support we can give them!

Also, all are invited to the annual S.W.O.C. We are never too old to play! Details as follows:

1. The durian is commonly known as the "king of the fruits." The name comes from the Malay word duri, meaning "thorn."

2. Durians cannot be plucked from the tree. You have to wait for durians to drop. The fruit usually drops at night.

3. Durians freeze well, either in the rind or just the pulp sections removed from the shell. You can keep durians that have been frozen for months.

Wine Tasting today was a Funtastic session. Stretching 7 batches and some friends of KR Alumni, everyone had something to talk about over the 4 wines we tasted and tasty german sausages, cheese and Flammkuchen (a form of pizza much better as agreed by most.)

Mr Leonardo had given us a great intro to the various wines and most loved the last one Shereuber, a form of dessert wine.

Sharing Series I Concluded

Last week we saw a few accomplished alumni making a trip down to KRH Sem rm 3 to share some job hunt tips & experiences to abt 15 lucky residents who hear 1st hand advices in this challenging job market.

As usual, these speakers charmed the audience with their witty & interesting anecdotes, gave valuable inputs to the lucky residents to edge themselves from their peers. Though these advices come small, they would be probably be useful in the times ahead. Judging from the positive response, the KRAC intends to pull in other speakers to cover the other spectrum of the job market. Of course, bearing in mind the current KR calender of events, KRAC would work closely with the hall leaders to get a best fit timing.

Finally, a big thank you to the distinguished speakers - Felicia, Vincent Gan, Kelvyn Choo, special thanks to the alumni who attended as well - Steph Ng, Hui Ting & Qingyou.

Launch of NEW KR JACKET! *UPDATED

Dear KR Alumnus,

KRH has launch a new series of KR Jacket to replace our old (& boring) set. See below for the visual design of the KR jacket. It is a good quality jacket, not to mention stylo milo design as well.

In conjunction with the launch, KReach (KR Youth Expedition Team) is working together for a fund-raising initiative. So, in simple terms, every jacket you buy, a x% will go in for a good cause, to the YEP project that KR has been working with in Chiangmai, Thailand for the past 2 years (yes, I'm 1 of the pioneer batch & i can tell you funding is a major hurdle). So lend us your support, in spirits & in dollars.Here are a few things to note:

1) Cost = $25

2) Sizes available: XS (use Pearline's size as a gauge) to XXL (use Zee's size as a gauge).

Some people's size as a gauge - S (lishi), M (teck yong), L (guoyong), XL (sunny).

3) The Blue is a deeper blue than the one shown in the picture. It's not so bright.

4) Under the Kent Ridge Hall, there will be National University of Singapore, but of a smaller font.

5) There is a tucked-in hood. Like the Team NUS jacket.

6) EMBROIDERED NAME on the inside of the right collar (white thread). extra cost = $2. this is in discussion with the supplier. So for those who wish to embroider their names, do leave the name you wish to use when placing order. I will let you guys know again.

If you have any other questions do let me know. I will try my best to get the measurements of the jacket if you guys feel it's necessary [UPDATED]. Hope you guys can help me take orders from alumni. We will take orders on a rolling basis, so just submit whatever orders you guys receive by end of this week. We can do another collation at the end of next week :)

Actual sample jacket should arrive early next week. I can take photos of it when it arrives and send it to you guys too.

A stirring performance with a little witty twist to this year's KR very own hall production left many alumnus craving for more. Good effort to Andrea & team for bringing a great show to the residents again & showing the campus the prowess of KR culture talents. Wonderful script, amazing vocals & zesty outfits. CNY Steamboat Concluded

'KR HUAT AR!'

With these words, close to 40 alumni & FYFs started their frenzy and illustrous lou hei tasks, some even attempted to toss as high as the covered walkway. It was a comical yet familiar sight where we were once gathered in the dining hall doing the same deed every CNY during our hall days.

It was great catching up with familiar faces, sharing of life updates and even more gossips. The dinner was made even more entertaining with the Hall Production folks delivering a couple of songs as a prelude to their grand show on 13 Feb 09 (Fri) @ UCC [see here]. All these were made possible with the help of the KR Alumni Secretariat Committee, together with the JCRC and Hall Admin, especially Supa'at who assisted with the logistics.

Chingay is here once again and we are particpating in the parade for the second time coming. Chingay itself was translated from Hokkien and it actually means the "Art of Masquerade". Over the years, it has transformed into the grandest float parade in Asia, with a media coverage to over 20 different countries and an expected reach out to 20 million people worldwide. The theme for the parade this year would be "Wonderland".

As our float, KRHome - Our Journey, Our Story will be parading down city hall area on 30th and 31st Jan, there is a most popular float voting competition held online and with just a few simple steps, you guys can vote for our one and only beloved float - KRHome, which represents Kent Ridge Hall and showcases the best works by all Kentridgeans, all the way from the mass production in Rag to the presentation on parade day.

Kent Ridge Hall proudly presents Here Lies Love, an entirely original musical blending postmodern theatrical aesthetics with the razzle-dazzle exuberance of old-school Broadway. Starring a talented cast and a live band playing genres from jazz, bossa nova to rock, we invite you to immerse yourselves in a world of showbiz, love, lies, and death.

Here Lies Love spins off on one of the most familiar stories in popular culture: the star-crossed lovers of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Taking apart the story’s conventional portrayal of love, the musical asks new questions: what does it mean to love someone? What if love is just a web of lies that we spin to protect ourselves or the ones we love?

A theatre group is racing against time to put together a lavish musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet when the director calls a halt to rehearsals. He is displeased with the actors’ lack of passion and tells them about a tragic love affair in his own past; one that was so fiery and consuming that he has made it his life’s work to tell that story.

Shift back to the present. Tempers fray as the musical’s premiere draws nearer. Tension brews between the director and his lead actor, who has been his favoured protégé for more than ten years. The feisty young lead actress starts to challenge the director’s domineering, obsessive control over the lead actor. But as the two leads forge a tentative, genuine relationship beyond the characters that they play on stage, the mystery behind the director and lead actor’s past begins to unravel.

It becomes clear that the director is lying about what really happened in the past. The sweeping, romantic love story that he constructed has its ugly side of obsession, selfish desires, and a fatal power struggle between himself and the lead actor’s mother.

Past and present collide as the lead actor decides to confront the director about his lies. But the show must go on – and for this story to end happily, everyone must still, ultimately, play fictional roles.

If life lies, can it be art? If love lies, is it still love?

Alumni Support for IHG 0809

Dear Kent Ridgeans,

As we enter into this long-awaited IHG period and as I have constantly mentioned about the importance of strong support towards our hall's sporting contingent, I would like to give special mention to the KR Alumni who have shown this kind of support towards the hall's IHG campaign this season. Although you may not always see them physically during the Games due to their packed schedules, their support in terms of advice and sponsorship goes a long way in helping our Warriors cross the finish line.

Many alumni have come back to the hall to lend a helping hand in coaching the teams. These valuable pieces of experience definitely mean a lot to our sports teams. The Alumni's generous donations for KR's campaign have made it possible for us to put in place several initiatives, such as improved player welfare in the Games with sports drinks being provided in every match. The KR Alumni have also helped in buying our IHG t-shirts hence enabling us to lower the prices for the residents.

As they may not be always around during the Games, we have printed the tagline "Supported by KR Alumni" on our t-shirts and publicity materials so that all our athletes can feel the presence and support of our Alumni during these Inter-Hall Games.

Therefore, with this, I would like to represent all KR residents in extending my sincere gratitude to the KR Alumni for their kind support in this season's Inter-Hall Games. Thank you, KR Alumni!

A message from JCRC Sports Sec. It's time for the drum call, warriors be prepared.

Dear KR Alumni,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your undying support towards the various hall events and activities. I would especially like to show my appreciation for your support towards Kent Ridge Hall's campaign in this year's Inter-Hall Games. Your ordering of the IHG shirts have lowered the cost price of the shirts, and your generous support have allowed us to put in place several initiatives, such as improving player welfare during the Games.

I am very sure you still remember how the hall spirit really comes alive during the Inter-Hall Games. By showing each other support, cheering each other on, and consoling each other, we hope to forge a stronger and more united hall. This aim ties in with our theme this year – Warriors' Pride – which emphasizes on building a sense of pride and belonging towards the hall and the KR Family as a whole. This theme also encourages our sportsmen to have the pride to always uphold sportsmanship, but at the same time, showing a true-blue never-say-die attitude. Our punchline this year – Respect All, Fear None - further drives across this message to strive for victory while always upholding sportsmanship.

With this, I would also like to invite you to once again experience the unforgettable moments of IHG by coming down to support our KR Warriors. This season will start on the 4th of January with our takraw boys kicking off the contingent's campaign. The takraw team will face the challenges from Raffles and King Edward VII in order to proceed to the semifinals and finals which will be held on the 11th of January. The following week will also see our tennis teams in group stage action and our handball girls playing their first match on Friday. Your presence during these matches and all other events to come will be very much appreciated by our players, supporters, and all Kent Ridgeans.

You are all invited to KR's ALUMNI DAY 2008! It will be held at NUS SRC/KR MPSH this year and it's probably one of the few times you can meet up with your ex-teammates and hallmates!

Sports to be played are determined by the current team captains' interest. However, if your favourite sport is not in the schedule, you are welcome to grab your kakis for your own game! We are sure we can accommodate space for you all, for e.g. Frisbee and Captains' Ball can be played anywhere and Volleyball can be played in the MPSH. Just let us know in advance!
Bring a set of dark and light color attire to facilitate gameplay. Also, bring a fresh change of clothes if you would like to shower or freshen up in hall.
Dinner is provided. Please stay for dinner so food is not wasted (we catered for 100 pax!)
There will be cultural performances from current residents AND the alumni! We're sure you miss those days of performing on stage or seeing the familiar faces on stage like Lin, Jiemin, Huiting and more! Do give them your support!
We will be screening past videos in the MPSH at dinner time. The NEW KR Jackets will be on sale and the IHG singlets/t-shirts/polos will be ready for collection too!

The year end is nearing, with great festive season awaiting us. Looking back, many of us would recall the intense IHG trainings, with as much as 4 trainings/day, running drills in the middle of the hot sun + many many routines that made us wonder 'how did i managed to survive that'.

Now, as Alumnus, we can no longer rule the courts like we used to, however, we can still show the undying 'sea of blue' support via other means. This yr, the KRAC has tie in with the Sports Management Unit "SMU" to crave our Alumnus' support to remind the warriors of our presence.

A 'Supported by KR Alumni' tagline would be strewn across every sleeve of IHG t-shirt, to unite the young, old and past residents together on the battlegrounds, to remind us of every sweat & blood we gave this hall together. Every shirt ordered will bring down the overall production costs by x cents. (rule of economies of scale)

A sunny afternoon see close to 20 alumni gathering back at SMU Settlers cafe pitting against each other with games like 'Walk the dog', 'The Saborteur', The Settlers' among many others.

Even tho it was a small gathering, we see & hear big laughter & fun from those who came. Special thanks to ken & Vince for effort in organzing this event. 1 major takeaway from from these games is never never ever choose color 'orange' cos no one wants to trade with you & u will end up alone up in the mountains. (same as real life)

Think Board Games should be Bored Games and not your cuppa tea?

Think again!

In preparation for this Sunday's Games, we gathered last week to familiarize ourselves with the games as part of dry run. We can't tell you how much fun and laughter we had in one afternoon, you gotta be there on Sunday to find out for yourselves!

Of course the games require some usage of the brains, but nothing like the kind of intensive work your brains go through everyday at work. You will be GRATEFUL for this break, we assure you!

Introducing our latest addition to the Alumni Committee Alvin Yang!
He is still considering about taking over Kelchoo's position (now that KC's based in China), but after many otaks and fishballs, we take it as a yes.

Our other favourite new game, Settlers of Catan!
(Settlers Cafe was apparently named after this game.)
Cheng Huann was the big winner, no surprises because you know how analytical, quick and a good planner he is.

Sadly, Wilson was the loser, because he was suay enough to choose ORANGE!

At the end of the day, we were super amazed that people are actually so innovative (and yes, FREE) to come up with such games. Is there an Institute of Board Games Research and Development statutory board somewhere out there?

On behalf of the Alumni Committee, we would like to thank all alumni for the unwavering support and active participation for KR's annual D&D. It sure brought back fond memories of rushing table costumes, disgusting cross-dressers and the anticipation of pageant.

We are pleased to annouce that we have achieved a record high of 10 alumni tables!

We would like to thank the following alumni for their help in the coordination of all 10 tables.

It gives us great pleasure and honour to annouce that this year's KR Rag & Flag teams have swept ALL awards except the Least Cost and Most Creative Floats!

And of course, we brought back home the Chancellor's Challenge Shield!

The g o l d e n . t u r b a n mentioned in the previous post refers to the special appearance by our JCRC president Rizal and our dear Hall Master! Master Kuldip actually bought a golden turban (which costs quite a fair bit) just for RAG!

Actually this post isn't meant to sound so hao lian, but we cant remember off-hand all the awards we won and those who are in the loop are probably too busy celebrating to patiently rattle off to us. So that's the update for now, video of Chancellor's Challenge Shield presentation will be up this weekend, the rest of the pictures after the weekend and full list of awards won ASAP.

A whopping sum of $2,715 was collected from the KR alumnus! Many thanks for those who contributed generously, it sure made our chance of getting the BEST FLAG day award even higher. For those who contributed, proper documentation has been done and the hall admin would issue you a formal acknowledgement letter in due time. Also, for bigger donors of more than $50, there would be tax exemption applicable and the hall admin would facilitate through IRAS for us.

Moving forward, the next BIG BIG event is RAG. As Rag Day is on a Friday and not on a Saturday (National Day), the Rag Preview will be held on 7th Aug, Thursday, at 7pm @ KR Lobby. Pls do try to catch this magnificent mystical float then. For those who come, we assure you there is a surprise awaiting you, how does g o l d e n . t u r b a n sound?
